Babies, Eczema & Skincare

We all want the best for our babies and at Aki Sunday, we firmly follow evidence and what science tells us. That’s why we recommend waiting to use our Universal Body Oil on baby’s skin until they’ve started on solids - which is usually around 6 months of age.

Why?

ASCIA (Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy), tells us that using food based skincare ingredients on baby can actually increase the chance of your baby developing an allergy to that food - particularly in babies with eczema. This is because the skin's barrier is compromised and the food based ingredient can cause allergic reactions via skin contact.

Once baby starts solids and has been introduced to common allergen foods (recommended before their 1st birthday), you can introduce food based skincare products. It’s okay for other family members to use the oil on their skin, however, if you or your baby has a known allergy to any of our ingredients, we advise you to not use our Universal Body Oil.

Please always ensure you’re adhering to your doctor/paediatrician's advice regarding yourself and your baby.
