Gua Sha… Huh?

Gua Sha… Huh?

You’ve heard of it, you’ve seen the tools… But what is it?

Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese technique where you use a smooth skin tool to scrape the skin to promote healing.

Gua Sha stimulates circulation, reduces puffiness & inflammation, promotes collagen production and a clear complexion.

How does Gua Sha do this?

Your body has a natural garbage disposal system - the lymphatic system. Gua sha helps to move excess fluid and toxins through the lymphatic system giving you a lifted, de-puffed appearance.

It’s normal for your skin to be a little red after using the gua sha technique. This is indicative that you’ve done it right and have stimulated your blood circulation which will promote the healing you’re looking for!

How do you do it?

Preparation: Cleanse and dry your face. Apply your favourite oil (pairs perfectly with our Universal Body Oil) or serum onto your skin. Repeat exercises 5-10 times.

Neck: At the base of your neck just above your collarbone, sweep upward toward your jawline.

Jaw: Start from the chin and sweep gently across your jawline toward your ears.

Cheeks: Using the large flat side of the Gua Sha, apply light pressure on the side of your nose and sweep up gently toward your ears.

Brows: Place the forked area on brows between the eyebrows and sweep up toward the forehead.

Forehead: Using the large, flat edge, place on centre of forehead at a 10–20° angle, sweeping out towards temples.
